Ethical Gathering & Foraging Techniques:

Winter Rhizomes & Licorice Fern Rhizome Syrup

Welcome to Ethical Gathering and Foraging Techniques with a special focus on rhizomes and making licorice fern rhizome syrup.

In this class we will begin with the ethics around gathering Rhizomes. We will touch base on the simple economic, environmental, western and indigenous ethical practices. Everyone will learn how process rhizomes of a handful of Pacific Northwest plants through demonstration and hands-on experience.

The Second half of this class will be hands-on processing fresh licorice fern rhizomes into honey syrup while discussing our initial experiences through our senses. We will get to know licorice fern's nutrients, medicinal properties and more. We will also learn a few tricks to making fresh processed honey syrups and finish with getting to enjoy homemade licorice fern rhizome tea, home made licorice fern rhizome syrup.

Each person will get to take home a 1/2 pint mason jar of Licorice Fern Syrup that they made from organic local raw honey and a few extra syrup making recipes.

More details will be emailed to you with the exact address in Olympia and any additional information after registration is complete.

With Deep Love and Gratitude
